Cafe Packaging’s range of animal transport mats are designed to protect an aircraft from waste and contamination during live animal shipments. In particular the three mats eliminate the corrosive effects of high concentrations of ammonia. The animals' feces and urine produce this corrosive gas which will damage the airplane's structure. Airlines also save considerable time, and therefore money, in the cleaning of aircraft at their destinations.
Cattle mats were designed for the transport of cattle, unshorn horses, pigs, bulls, and most medium to large animals. They absorb approximately 60 liters of liquid in their structure, which will not leak or drip, even if the mat is compressed. The also absorb free ammonia gas which urine and faeces ‘gas off’
Goat mats were designed for smaller animals, such as goats and sheep. Since these animals urinate less quantity, they absorb up to 35 liters, as well as ammonia.
Base mats have a variety of uses. They composed a very strong leak proof base, made from rubberized canvas, and an absorbent layer, protected by a non-woven topcoat. There are flaps that extend beyond the pallet circumference, with the facility to ‘cinch up’the flaps to form a box, 30cm on the side. This structure can hold up to 200 liters of liquid. They are used for between the shippers pallet and the aircraft pallet. Many shippers and airlines use them for exotic animals, horses, elephants, etc., as well as fresh fish, fresh meat, and any product prone to leakage.
